About Our Chef: Steve Skomski

Chef Steve Skomski
Chef Steve Skomski joined the management team at Flint Golf Club in the summer of 2006. Since he was young he always loved to cook, starting as a child helping his mother in the kitchen. In high school he participated in the hospitality program, then attended Schoolcraft and Oakland Community Colleges where he received his associates degree in culinary arts. He spent a large part of his career at Great Oaks Country Club where he worked his way from prep cook to Sous Chef. He has also spent time at the Townsend Hotel, Papa Joes catering, the Chuck Muer Corporation and the Detroit Athletic Club. When Chef Steve isn’t at Flint Golf Club, he enjoys doing charity benefits such as the Annual Flint Institute of Arts Scholarship Fundraiser, Leader Dogs For the Blind Holiday events and competing in culinary arts competitions. Chef Steve was awarded the Silver Medal at the Chicago Regional Culinary Competition and Best of Show at the Oakland County Gourmet Gala.
Since arriving Chef Steve has assembled a talented staff of Chefs who, like himself, have a passion for the culinary arts. Sous Chef Larry Werner trained under a master Chef and has a rich culinary background that includes authentic German and Italian training. Banquet Chef Ellen Curey has been a mainstay of the Flint Golf Club kitchen since the year 2000 and has a loyal following among the membership for her unique and delicious creations.
